Fatal I-95 Crash: 63-Year-Old Driver ID'd As Victim

One person was killed in a two-vehicle rollover crash on a stretch of I-95 in Connecticut.

It happened in New London County around 1:35 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 on the southbound side in Old Lyme.

A 2020 Freightliner business class truck and a 1989 Freightliner conventional truck were traveling just south of Exit 71 when the conventional truck struck the business class truck in the rear, causing the conventional truck to cross into the right shoulder and hit the guardrail and roll onto its passenger side, according to Connecticut State Police.

The operator of the conventional truck, Middlesex County resident Michael Allen Finkeldey, age 63, of Westbrook, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver of the business class truck, a 62-year-old man from Westbrook in New Haven County, was not injured, police said.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
